Alan J. Yagmin, 76
ADAMS, Mass. —Mr. Alan Joseph Yagmin, 76. of Adams, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. He was born in Northampton on December 13, 1947, a son of the late Joseph A. “Sonny” Yagmin, Jr. and Lucy (Wojciechowski) Yagmin. He grew up in Easthampton and graduated from Easthampton High School. He received an associate degree from the former Northampton Commercial College, and later earned his Bachelor’s degree from the former North Adams State College (now MCLA). Alan was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the US Navy, from 1969 until his Honorable Discharge in 1972. Alan worked at North Adams State College and its successor, Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, retiring in 2003 as the assistant director of its Computer Center. He attended St. John Paul II Parish at Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church, Adams. He played billiards in many leagues throughout the county, with an impressive amount of victories and trophies to his credit. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Patricia A. Simonich, whom he married on October 17, 1970; his two children, Brenda Yagmin of New York City and James Yagmin and his wife Alicia Albo of San Francisco, CA; grandchildren Oscar, age 9 and Leo, age 7, of San Francisco; his brother John Yagmin and his partner Audrey Lamothe, and his sister Lucie Winsky and her husband Paul, both of Easthampton, MA; as well as many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held on Thursday, April 4th at 10:00 AM from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church, 21 Maple St. Adams. Burial with military honors will be in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam, MA on Thursday at 2:00 PM. Calling hours are Wednesday, Apr. 3rd from 5 to 7 PM in the funeral home.
