Sharon J. Sylvester, 72

Sharon J. Sylvester, of Bennington Vermont passed away at 72 years-old on March 18, 2024 at Southern Vermont Medical Center.

Sharon was born on August 16th, 1951, in Pittsfield, MA to parents Jacqueline Devine and Theodore Sylvester.

Although born in Massachusetts, Sharon always proclaimed that Vermont was her true home. She was a caring, out-going free-spirit who had the ability to make personal connections with people from all backgrounds. She was passionate about gardening, art, and baking, always crafting personal gifts or baking treats for family and friends. Sharon had a love for the ocean and dipping her toes in the water on the beaches of Cape Cod. She was a proud mother, grandmother, and grand “pawrent” to her four children, three grandchildren, and many grand dogs.

Sharon was preceded by her brother James Sylvester and is survived by her sister Karen Fairs, brother Timothy Sylvester, children Dawn and James Stewart, Brian and Nicci Agaman, Gabriel and Alexis Agaman, Travis Agaman and Lauren Ashwell, and her grandchildren Matthew Stewart, Emily Stewart, and Kayla Lannon.

To honor Sharon's final wish, a celebration of life will be announced in the late spring.

I had the privalege of working with Sharon at Brayton School many years ago. She was always so happy and lively. Her wonderful, cheery personality made even the gloomiest days brighter. She always loved showing off her awesome tattoos (I remember her being particularly proud of her Rebel Alliance one LOL). I know she was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all.

I was a friend of Sharon’s when she was at St. Joe and we were very close. She left to go to Drury and sadly we lost touch. I have tried a few times in recent years to get in touch with her, but I had no luck. I was very sad today to see that she had died. I always hoped we could see each other again. My condolences to her family and to the friends she left behind.

Dawn and family; I am so saddened to hear of the loss of your mother. Years ago, when we were teenagers, we all spent many fun times together and a few years ago reminisced about them. She was a beautiful person, and I am honored to have known her. May memories of her help you through this difficult time.
