James F. Bona, 82
James Francis Bona of Stamford, VT. passed away Thursday March 21, 2024 at Berkshire Medical Center.
He was born in Pittsfield, MA. on September 27, 1941 the son of the late Gino and Helen (St. John) Bona.
He attended schools in North Adams including St. Joseph Parochial School and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School with the class of 1959.
Mr. Bona was employed by the former James Hunter Machine Shop in North Adams for 22 years beginning as a machine operator. He later worked in time-study, as a tool designer, and in sales before leaving as a production manager. He then worked in sales for Valeron Corp. of Detroit, MI for two years. Mr. Bona also was a real estate broker and long-time local landlord. He was last employed as a subcontractor for Scarafoni Realty.
Mr. Bona maintained a band, Trius, which played in various clubs in the area from 1959-1975. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in North Adams, and he was a former volunteer fireman for the Clarksburg Volunteer Fire Company.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and was a member of the Stamford Sportsman Club.
He leaves behind his wife Lois Andrea (Morandi) Bona whom he married on October 14, 1961 in St. Francis of Assisi Church; son Keith J. Bona and wife Anne Marie of North Adams; daughter Constance L. Bona of Bolton, VT.; and three grandchildren: Amber Thomas, Alexander Bona and wife Hope; and Elizabeth Bona.
A Private graveside service will take place in the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams, MA. There are no calling hours.
