Lucille Szpila, 99
ADAMS, Mass. — Lucille Szpila, 99, of Adams, passed away peacefully in her sleep, Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at The Landing at Laurel Lake in Lee, MA., surrounded by her loving family. Born In Adams on February 14, 1925, daughter of the late Clarence and Lillian (Senecal) Gelineau she attended the former Notre Dame School in North Adams.
Lucille was employed for a short period of time for the former Berkshire Mills in Adams, but she was a homemaker most all of her life. She was a longtime communicant of the former St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Adams, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was also a member of the Rosary Sodality. Lucille enjoyed crafts, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family.
Her husband Julian Szpila, whom she married on February 9, 1946, died April 28, 2005. She is Survived by two sons, Ronald Szpila (Annette) of Montague, MA., Steven Szpila of Great Barrington. Three daughters, Cynthia Daunais Lawrence of Adams, Denise Desanty (John) of both Savoy and North Carolina, Jeanne Millette (Richard) of Port St. Lucie, FL., a sister, Bunny Wegrzyn of Adams, 6 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and nieces and nephews. Lucille was predeceased by a brother, Clarence “Kirk” Gelineau, two sisters, Doris Richardson, Theresa Quakenbush, and her loving dog, Gigi.
Services and burial for Lucille will take place at a later date, there are no calling hours. Donations in her memory can be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires in care of the TROTTIER PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, MA 01220 who is in charge of arrangements.
