Betty Belding, 90

Eileen (Francis) Belding, 90 of North Adams died on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at Mount Greylock Extended Care in Pittsfield, MA.

She was born in North Adams, MA on December 5, 1932 in North Adams, MA, a daughter of Thomas J. and Lillian (Crews) Francis.

She attended North Adams schools and was a Class of 1950 graduate of Drury High School. She married Holice F. Belding on June 4, 1955 in St. John’s Church in North Adams. Holice predeceased her on August 27, 2009.

She was last employed for 22 years as the supervisor of the Williams College post office, from where she retired in 2004. Prior to that she worked at the Dept. of Environmental Management at Vietnam Veterans Skating Rink for 10 years.

She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in North Adams. She enjoyed candlepin bowling. Devoted to her family, she greatly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty was predeceased by her husband Holice, and her daughter Sally L. Bird of Adams on January 3, 2014. She is survived by two grandsons; Matthew J. Bird (Erin) of Millis, MA and Tanner C. Bird (Courtney) of Cheshire, and great-grandchildren; Rowan, Maverick and Nash and also her son-in-law F. John Bird of Adams, MA, and nieces and nephews. Her brother, Thomas E. Francis died in 2002.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A funeral for Betty E. Belding will be celebrated on Friday September 29, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at All Saints Church in North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling Hours will take place at Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home – West Chapel prior to the funeral service on Sept. 29, 2023 from 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. Betty was my neighbor and I frequently transported her through the North Adams Council on the Aging. I thoroughly enjoyed our conversations and my time with her. My best to your family.
