Francis J. LaBombard Jr., 79

Francis "Frank" Joseph LaBombard Jr., 79 of Clarksburg, died Monday June 19, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Frank was born in Troy, NY on October 6, 1943, a son of the late Francis Joseph LaBombard Sr. and Bernadette Lillian (Amlaw) LaBombard. Frank attended schools in North Adams including Drury High School. Frank was a decorated veteran of the United States Army serving with the 82nd Airborne Infantry as a Paratrooper. Frank was employed at McCann Technical High School as the Maintenance Supervisor in North Adams for over thirty-years. In Frank's earlier years he owned T&L furniture store in North Adams where he built custom furniture.

Frank enjoyed weight lifting and competed in many competitions. He set several bench pressing records in his age and weight category. One of his accomplishments was winning the North American bench press championship in the Masters Division in 1994 at the World Natural Powerlifting Federation championship. Frank was an avid woodworker and enjoyed making wood projects for family and friends. In his recent years, he enjoyed biking, traveling, and spending time at his summer home in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire with Terry LeClair, his companion and partner of 18 years. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.

His wife Sandra (Wimpenny) LaBombard whom he married March 30, 1968 died September 4, 2004. Survivors include his partner Terry LeClair, his loving children Francis J. LaBombard III and his wife Ryann of Brattleboro, VT, Wendy Richard and her husband Dan of Hanson, MA and Jill Hurley and her husband Ronald of Florida, MA. Frank also leaves his grandchildren, Katie Gigliotti, Daniel Richard, Elizabeth Tatro, Kristina Tatro, and his new grandson, Evan LaBombard. Frank also leaves a sister Jeannette Brule, along with nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters Barbara Gleason and Beverly Tatro.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday June 23, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in North Adams followed by burial with full military honors in the family plot in Clarksburg Cemetery. Calling hours at the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams are Thursday June 22, 2023 from 4-7 P.M.
