Nancy Bishop, 85

Nancy Anne (St. Pierre) Bishop, 85, of Adams, MA died on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in North Adams on August 1, 1937, a daughter of Alice (Bissaillon) St. Pierre, Hector “Alphonse” St. Pierre, and Joseph St. Pierre.

Nancy married Ronald H. Bishop in North Adams on October 1, 1955. Ronald predeceased her on May 4, 2006. Nancy was employed at the former A&P Supermarket where she met the love of her life, Ron. She spent the majority of her life as a loving homemaker and caregiver, but many will remember her from her years at Martin Shoe Store in North Adams. Nancy loved traveling and hiking with her husband Ron. She was an avid knitter making many an afghan, sweater or scarf for her loved ones. Nancy took great pleasure in reading and gardening. However, her real joy in life came from her family and her home, as she was a very devoted and loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Nancy was witty and brightened every room she walked into. Those who were lucky enough to be loved by her had that love deeply and unconditionally forever.

She is survived by her son, Brian & his wife Dawn Bishop of Adams; and her two daughters, Cynthia & her husband Thomas Tinney of Adams; and Beth & her husband Andrew Burdick of Adams. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Katie (Chad) Chenail, Jason Bishop, Cassie Scott, Megan (Dino) Sookey, Ryan Scott, Sara (Ryan) Fix, and Nathan (Alexis) Burdick; and five great-grandchildren: David, Isabelle, Samuel, Scarlett and Kane. Also, she leaves behind sisters, Joanne Fitch and Brenda Roy, as well as her sister-in-law, Sally Cavanaugh, and several nieces and nephews whom she loved like her own. Nancy was predeceased by her husband Ronald, her parents, grandson Christopher Bishop in 2019, beloved sister Diane “Thelma” Maloney, and Aunt Evelyn Leonesio.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Nancy Bishop will be celebrated Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Notre Dame Church in Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery.
