Caroline J. Filiault, 92

ADAMS, Mass. —  Mrs. Caroline June (LaFountain) Filiault, 92, of Adams, died Saturday evening, June 10, 2023 at Williamstown Commons. She was born in West Swanzey, NH on April 22, 1931, a daughter of the late Howard L. and Lillian R. (Smith) LaFountain.

She came to this area as a child with her family and attended local schools.  Caroline worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams for over 40 years, until retiring. She then went on to work as a Wal-Mart greeter until finally retiring at age 83. She also served as a volunteer at the North Adams Regional Hospital.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Adams, where she served as a greeter and had baked goodies for church social hours. She was a member of both the American Legion and V.F.W. Auxiliaries.  She enjoyed playing bingo, reading the newspaper, and spending time with her grandchildren.  She loved going to the Fall Foliage Parade, coffee, sweets, and the Boston Red Sox.

Her husband, George H. Filiault, whom she married on September 24, 1966, died on July 20, 1977.  She is survived by her children, Sandra Paquin of Adams, Peter Moser of North Adams, Paula Filiault (Tim O’Brien) of Dunellon, FL and Michelle Filiault of Adams; 12 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a grandson, Daniel Ritcher; her sister, Virginia LaFountain; a half-brother, William Dimitri, and a half- sister, Ella Rousseau. 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 15th at 11:00 AM in the First Baptist Church of North Adams. Rev. David Anderson, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Relatives and friends are invited. Per Caroline’s request, there are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, 131 Main St. North Adams, MA 01247, or to Hospice Care in the Berkshires, 877 South St. Pittsfield, MA 01201. Recollections & Sympathy For the Family

Although we attended the same church, I did not get to know her until recently when I became her Hospice volunteer and visited her weekly for a few months. We spent some wonderful time together. She became a true friend. I will miss her smile and conversation.
