Donald J. Anderson, 71

CHESHIRE, Mass. —  

Mr. Donald J. Anderson, 71, of Cheshire, died Tuesday evening, May 23, 2023, at his home.

He was born in Adams on August 21, 1951, a son of the late Lawrence and Olive (Hall) Anderson, and attended Adams schools, graduating from the former Adams Memorial High School with the Class of 1969.

He was a Vietnam Veteran, serving with the US Navy from 1971 until his Honorable Discharge in 1975.

Don last worked as a machinist at Berkmatics, Inc. in North Adams until retiring. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brother Andy, trips to Maine, working in his shed, going to truck pulls with his friend Dick, walking with his sister-in-law Phyllis, going to the Cheshire Rod & Gun Club with his brother-in-law Bert to target practice and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, the former Pamela A. Egloff, whom he married on September 21, 1974;

son Shawn Hayes and his companion Trish of Becket, MA; two daughters Jennifer Baldassano of North Adams and Tamara Dette and her husband Daniel of New York; six grandchildren including Ryann, Rachel, Shawn, Bryanna, Ethan and Kayla; two brothers, Lawrence Anderson of North Adams, and Robert Anderson and his wife Phyllis of Cheshire, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and burial will be private for immediate family.

Memorial donations may be made to Pop Cares, P.O. Box 482, Williamstown, MA 01267 or to Hospice Care in the Berkshires, 877 South St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.

The PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, is in charge of arrangements.
