Edward Raymond Coody, Sr., 73

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Edward Raymond Coody, Sr., 73, of Fort Walton Beach, passed away on Oct. 29, 2022.  

Edward was born on Dec. 9, 1948, in North Adams.  He was a decorated Vietnam Veteran who received several awards and medals including Army Grenade Qualification bar, two Overseas bars, Expert Rifle and Sharp Shooter.  Edward was also a reservist in the National Guard.  He was a lifetime member of the VFW and DAV.  

He is predeceased by brothers Michael Coody (April 2022) and William Coody (October 2022); late wife, Betty A. Fachini Coody; mother, Veronica A. Miller; and father, George S. Coody.   

Left to treasure Edward's memory is his wife of over five years, Patricia A. Voss; daughters , Mary Depriest, Amy Crabtree and Paige Ainsworth; sons, Edward Raymond Coody, Jr. and Robert Ainsworth; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandson; sisters, Phyllis Goule, Marilyn Mahar, Janine Zoito, Carol Burdick and Martha Pratt of North Adams, MA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Edward will be buried in Southview Cemetary on June 3, 2023 at 10 am.  Family and friends are invited to join the famiy at the Greylock Club Pavilion, North Adams,  to remember the three brothers who died last year.

Ed, you are in my prayers. It’s been many years, but I remember you well as a wonderful classmate and among the friendliest and best of people. Rest in peace.

I love and miss you so much Dad. You came into my life and changed it forever. I miss joking with you about “Hamburg” and then hearing you yell FINE GROUND BEEF and how you’d forget random things like that vegetable with a groove is called celery. What I wouldn’t give to hear your laugh or some of your wholesome advice. I hope you’re up there drinking coffee and keeping an eye on us.
