Rita C. Chwalek, 97
ADAMS, Mass. — Mrs. Rita C. (Riel) Chwalek, 97, of Adams, died Thursday afternoon, May 4, 2023 at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield. She was born in Adams on April 25, 1926, a daughter of the late Arsene and Veronica (Paradysz) Riel. She attended Adams schools and graduated from the former Adams High School with the Class of 1943.
Rita worked for the former New England Telephone Co. for 20 years until retiring. She had been a communicant of St. John Paul II Parish in Adams.
Her husband, Stanley Chwalek, whom she married on October 7, 1950, died on December 21, 2006.
She is survived by two daughters, Theresa Dudziak and her husband, Guy, of Adams, and Connie Kuramoto and her partner, Hugh, of British Columbia, Canada; her granddaughters Rachel Kuramoto and her partner, Glen, of Nova Scotia and Alena Kuramoto of Canada; her grandson Nathan Dudziak and his wife, Elizabeth, of Adams, and her great granddaughters Bridgette and Theresa, of Canada. She was predeceased by her brother, Ralph Riel, on December 8, 2022.
Funeral services and burial will be private. There are no calling hours.
