Matthew Roach,31

Matthew “Matty” J. Roach passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 3rd 2023 at his home in New Haven Connecticut at the age of 31.

Formerly of Williamstown, Massachusetts, and a graduate of Mt. Greylock Regional High School, Matthew was an athlete who loved the games of hockey and baseball and spending time at the local ski resorts snowboarding. Matthew settled in New Haven, Connecticut where he worked as a chef at the Fair Haven Oyster Co.

Matthew was a passionate Chef and loved learning about the different cultures and foods of the world. Matthew spent time in South America and Asia eating his way through his travels. He also will be remembered in Colorado and Block Island, RI where he lived and worked while enjoying their respective seasons. Matthew had an infectious smile and a magnetic personality that drew all those who knew him in. He was a kind, funny sole who made all those around him comfortable with his loving personality. He will be sorely missed in all the communities that were lucky enough to have him.

Matthew is survived by his Mother, Karen Black of Williamstown, Massachusetts; his brother Thomas Roach of East Boston, Massachusetts and his brother Bryan Roach of Portland, Maine as well as a large extended family.

Matthew will be remembered at a Celebration of Life ceremony held at Bloom Meadows on Sunday May 7th 2023 from 3pm to 6pm. All those who knew him are encouraged to attend. To add to the Book of Memories, please visit flynndagnolifuneralhomes.com.

I am shocked to hear of Matt's sudden passing. It was an honor to be one of Matt's high school hockey coaches. His smile in the obituary picture says it all about how I remember Matt when he played for us. I am praying for you, Matt, and I extend my sincere condolences and prayers to Matt's family.

So sorry for your loss. He was such a great kid. I think of him everytime I watch my grandson and graddaughter plays hockey for the black bears. He was a good worker too. He did a great job when he worked with me at pine cone hill and several projects around the house.

Karen, I remember all of your kids, only as " little kids". Time does fly. Matthew seems to have followed in his father, (my second cousin) Paul's footsteps as a " foodie " and has also led an incredible life in the industry. My condolences to you and the boys.
