Ann M. McLaren, 88

ADAMS, Mass. —  On Friday, April 21, 2023, Mrs. Ann Marie (Charon) McLaren, a loving wife and mother, passed peacefully at home, comforted by her family.

   She is survived by her husband of 63 years, William J. McLaren: three daughters, Mary McGeoghegan and her husband Glenn; and Sarah McLaren and her husband, Marcus Nerino, both of Marshfield, MA, and Kathryn Little and her husband, Brad, of Adams; seven grandchildren, including Westley McGeoghegan and his wife Ann; Matthew McGeoghegan and his wife Samantha; Anna Catherine Nerino, Chloe Nerino, Sadie Nerino, Maggie Little and Calvin Little; as well as cousins, several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She is predeceased by one brother, William Charon.

   Ann was born in Adams on June 24, 1934, to the late William and Catherine (Jennings) Charon. She lived, married and raised her family in Adams, MA and summered in Ashfield, MA for many, many years. Ann also enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida with her husband for the last 30 years. She attended school in Adams, graduating with the Class of 1952 at the former Adams High School. Ann married her life partner, Bill, on February 20, 1960, in the middle of a snowstorm. She left work to take on one of her most precious roles in life, mother. She returned to work many years later, at North Adams State College (now MCLA), working in the Registrar’s Office for 12 years.

   A lifelong communicant of the Catholic Parishes of Adams. She was one of the first women Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist to serve in her church. She taught religious education for decades and volunteered for many years making Christmas wreaths and in the charity shop. In addition to her church, Ann served her community in many ways, including serving as a member of the Youth Center Board and as an elected Board Member for the dams Housing Authority. Ann had many hobbies. She was an extremely creative person and talented artist. She loved attending theatrical performances.

   Taking up the sport later in life, Ann became an excellent golfer and was an active member of the Women’s Golf Leagues at both Stamford Valley Golf Course and Forest Park Country Club. She had a soft spot for all animals, many ending up in her home. However, spending time with those she loved, her family and friends, was what she liked to do most.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 9:30 until 10:30 AM at Paciorek Funeral Home 13 Hoosac Street Adams, MA. A funeral mass will follow at Notre Dame Des Sept Douleurs Church, 21 Maple Street Adams, MA at 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life luncheon will be held immediately after at The Manor for all family and friends, 2 Columbia Street, Adams, MA.
