Edwin Harvey Joy, 49

Edwin Harvey Joy, 49, of North Adams, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at home.

Born to Sheila (Silvey) and the late Harvey Joy on June 10, 1973 in Denver, Colorado, thus began his lifelong devotion to the Broncos - even post John Elway!

Mostly raised in Pennsylvania and Berkshire County, Ed was heavily influenced by his father's love of pursuing fish and game.  If there was a season open, whether it was deer hunting in the woods of "Pennsyltucky", fishing the lakes around North Adams, gigging for bullfrogs in swampy waters, bear hunting in Vermont and Maine, or turkey hunting "up the hill", Ed was usually in the woods.

Besides hunting and fishing, Edwin was a competitive outdoor athlete, winning or placing in archery shoots, EFTA mountain bike races, snowshoe races, running races, and trail running. The call of the fresh air and sunshine were strong, with the majority of his jobs based on being outdoors including:  paintball instructor, landscaper, logger, snowshoe/hiking guide, roofer, carpentry, bike mechanic, and a construction worker at Unistress Inc.

Aside from his outdoor adventures, Ed also excelled in the food service industry, most notably at Hot Tomatoes Pizza in Williamstown. All these skills culminated in him showcasing his #JoyOutdoors lifestyle, preparing great meals in the woods, thus creating his legacy that can be emulated by others.

Besides his mother, Edwin Joy  leaves behind two brothers, Richard (Michelle) of Plymouth, Mass. and Terry of North Adams, son H. Maxwell of Westfield, daughter Samantha and her son Nolan of Bennington, daughter Rylee of Stamford, beloved cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.  A long list of friends including Cathy Corbett, with whom he spent his last days. Whether you knew him for a day or for years, his sense of humor and relatability helped him to connect with people of all ages and backgrounds.

The family welcomes you to join them in remembering Ed's life at the VFW on the Mohawk Trail in North Adams from 4:00 - 8:00  pm on Friday, April 7, 2023.
