James Allen Murphy, 34

On this day, we sadly announce on  Feb. 11,  2023, James gained his wings at the age of 34 and joined his grandmother in heaven.

He was born on June 16, 1988, to Roseshawn Murphy and Nathaniel Jolley. He was a 2006 Drury High graduate and most recently worked at Caribbean Freezer Service.

James was a kind man and loving father to Avan Murphy, who held a special place in his heart. James was known by many for his love of basketball and youth football. He enjoyed learning to cook new dishes and spending time with his family.

He lived a good life and will be missed by many.

James may have left us on this earth, but he will never be forgotten for his good nature and kind soul.

He leaves behind his beloved Mother, Roseshawn, and Father, Nathaniel, son Avan Murphy, sister Shaquisa Murphy (Stephen), brothers Dayton Logan (Markie) Brett Logan (Chelsey), grandfather William Shepard, Life partner Rebecca Curb, three nephews, aunts, uncles, and many cousins.

He is preceded by his maternal grandmother and grandfather, Linda and James Murphy, and uncle James Shepard.

Dear Roseshawn:
I am in disbelief that you have lost your son. Truly my heart goes out to you and your family. Please, remain strong and courageous knowing that our Lord Jesus Christ is here to comfort you and your family. I am so sorry! Much love, much love.

I knew James simply as "murph". I remember a warm personality and a smile that could light up a room. Murph was the coolest kid at every party, sporting event, or even in class. When I say "cool" I mean that he was respectful of everyone, wether he knew you his whole life or you were just passing through for whatever reason and he always made you feel welcome and recognized. I feel for his family, and though I don't know him, I feel especially for his son. Rest Easy, Murph. We love you.
