Wayne James Howland, 71

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —  Wayne James Howland, 71 of North Adams, MA died on Thursday February 16, 2023, at Mass. General Hospital in Boston.

Wayne was born in North Adams, MA on April 20, 1951 a son of John Benjamin Howland and Mary Janice (Jones) Howland. He was a graduate of McCann Technical High School, Class of 1969.

Wayne worked as a lead electrician at General Electric and General Dynamics for over 45 years until his retirement in December of 2018.

Wayne had a love for life and enjoyed playing chess, bird watching, genealogy, and trips to the casino. He especially enjoyed taking rides in his truck and spending time with his family.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Patricia Jean (Pellerin) Howland, whom he married on May 15, 1971 in St. Francis of Assisi Church; his two daughters, Marcia Jean (Chad Michael) Jzyk of North Adams, MA and Cheryl Lee Howland of Cheshire, MA; and his son, Wayne James (Carolyn Crews) Howland Jr. of North Adams. He also leaves behind four grandchildren: Keira, Lauren, Madison, and Jacob; two brothers, Steven Howland and Kirk Howland, both of Florida, MA and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, John Howland, and a sister, Mary Baribeau.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Wayne Howland will be Wednesday February 22, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA are Tuesday from 5-7 PM.
