Frederick A. Solari, 92

ADAMS, Mass. —  Frederick Andre Solari, 92 of Bennington, VT and a longtime resident of Adams, MA died on Wednesday February 15, 2023 at Centers for Living and Rehabilitation, with family by his side.

He was born in Adams, MA on October 24, 1930, the son of Frederick H. and Evangeline Clementine (Bassi) Solari. He attended Adams schools and graduated from Adams High School with the class of 1949.

He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the US Navy on the USS Orion.

Fred was employed at the former Sprague Electric Co. for many years until his retirement. He was a communicant of St. John Paul II Church and the former St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Adams, where he served as an usher. Fred was a member of the Adams American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and maintaining his gardens.

He was predeceased by his wife Joan M. (Morin) Solari who died on February 26, 1984. They were married on September 3, 1955. Survivors include his loving son, Joseph A. Solari and his wife, Laurie A. Solari of Bennington, VT and five adoring grandchildren- Danielle Joan (Matt) Catabia of Pelham, NH; Joseph A. Solari Jr. (Caitlin Mattison) of Freehold, NY; Nicholas Frederick Solari (Jordan Christopher) of Wallingford, CT; Sarah A. (Nathan) Prouty of Rocky Hill, CT and Rebecca M. Solari of Boston, MA. He also leaves four great grandchildren- Kaylin, Bentley, Sophia, and Cameron; his cousin, Peter Solari (Phyllis) and his family of Waldwick, NJ and his beloved cousins in Switzerland including Eliana Maffei (Thomas), David Polacsek-Maffei (Mirella), Sarah Polacsek Maffei, Germano Solari and Silvano Solari, whom he proudly met in Switzerland in 2018.

Fred's family would like to express their gratitude to the caregivers and staff at CLR for the exceptional care and compassion Fred received.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Frederick Solari will be celebrated Thursday February 23, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Church, 3 Houghton St. North Bennington, VT with Fr. Kevin Russeau, C.S.C. officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams, MA. A calling hour will be held at the church on Thursday morning from 10-11 AM. Memorial donations may be made to the Activities Fund at Centers for Living and Rehabilitation or the Adams Ambulance Service in care of FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA 01247. Joey, Laurie and family, I am so sorry to her about Freddie’s passing. He was such a kind, caring guy who my family loved deeply. He was always asking about Joe and Tyler. He was a special guy with a heart of gold! He will be missed.

I think about Freddie often and so sorry to see of his passing. His life was definitely a life well lived. I worked with him and your Mom was also a peach. She was librian at McCann when I went to school there. Rest in Peace Freddie and know you were loved and always will be. Joey you were his pride and joy.
