ADAMS, Mass. —
Mr. Roy W. O’Brien, Jr., 73, of Adams, died on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Williamstown Commons.
He was born in Adams on February 6, 1949, a son of the late Roy and Helen (Bujalska) O’Brien. He attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former Adams High School with the class of 1968.
Mr. O’Brien was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served with the United States Navy aboard the USS Bluefish SSN675 from 1969, until receiving his honorable discharge on November 15, 1973.
Roy worked as a machinist for many years at General Electric and General Dynamics in Pittsfield until retiring.
He was a communicant of the former St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Adams. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Adams Turn Hall, Adams Post 160 American Legion and the Mountain Club, Adams.
He is survived by his wife the former Mary Jane Presnal, whom he married on May 4, 1996; two brothers, Timothy O’Brien of Dunnellon, FL and William O’Brien and his wife Kathy of Adams; two sisters, Mary Paree and her husband Raymond and Teresa Revett and her husband Rick, all of Adams and by many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother Walter O’Brien.
The funeral will be held on Friday, January 13th at 11:00 A.M. in the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.
