Steven M. Richard, 68

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —  Steven Mark Richard, 68 of North Adams, MA died on Wednesday December 21, 2022 at Berkshire Medical Center after a long, brave fight with cancer.

He was born in North Adams, MA on April 11, 1954, a son of the late Lionel Joseph Richard and Helen Joyce (Harrington) Richard. attended local schools and graduated from the Drury High School. Steve graduated from North Adams State College and received his master's degree in chemistry from UMass.

He was last employed as a supervisor at Pittsfield Plastics. Steve was a loving caregiver to his father in his declining years. was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Steve loved fly-fishing on the Deerfield River. was an avid fan of the New York Jets and University of Notre Dame football teams.

Survivors include two sisters- Diane (Larry) Morrissey and Julie A. (Andy Cavanaugh) Richard, both of North Adams. He also leaves his nephews- Brannon O'Donovan whom he was very close to and would talk football with for hours, Ryan Morrissey and Shaun Morrissey and several close cousins.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Steve Richard will be celebrated Thursday January 5, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA are Wednesday January 4, 2023 from 5-7 PM. Diane, Larry and Julie, So sorry for your loss. Steve was a great guy always enjoyed running into him and reminiscing for a long time. He stopped in to visit after fishing in the Deerfield. Love and comfort to you.

Diane, a great part of knowing you and your siblings was through your dad bragging about his kids. Being from the distant part of the Richard‘s, in Albany New York. It’s sad the loss of your brother at such a young age. God bless.

Was part of the Richard family for 15 years , I was married to Julie his sister and from the day I met Steve we grew to be very good friends. He loved his sister very much. Steve would talk about notre dame and fishing the Deerfield , was kind enough to teach my son ( Brannon) to fly fishing. Such a kind man he will be sadly missed. God bless rip Steven ??.
