Vern Adams Emerson, 80

CHESHIRE, Mass. — Vern Adams Emerson, 80, of 44 Richardson Street, Cheshire, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2022, at North Adams Commons.

Born in Springfield, Mass., on June 13, 1942, the son of Emery A. and Ruth Mae Derosia Emerson, he was educated in West Seneca, NY schools and was a 1965 graduate of the University of Miami. Returning to his mother's hometown in 1965.

Mr. Emerson was employed by General Electric Company-Naval Ordnance Systems Division and its successors where he was a business analyst. He retired with more than 30 years service.

Active in the town he loved. Vern was Troop 31 Boy Scout leader for over 25 years, He was a past Grand Master of the Masonic Temple Upton Lodge in Cheshire. Vern also was a member of the Cheshire Historical Commision. He was a Council on Aging van driver and had been a member of the Cheshire Cemetery Crew until his retirement a few years ago.

Mr. Emerson leaves his wife, the former Christine B. Lester, whom he married, May 2,1970, in Lenox.

He is also survived by a daughter, Amy B. Emerson-Inhelder ( Matthew Inhelder Beekmantown, NY) of Lenox; a son, Adam B. (wife Heather) Emerson of Cheshire; three grandchildren, Chloe, Wesley, and Avery. Vern leaves his in laws Cheryl and Joseph Adamski of CA and Maureen and Bruce Lester of Dalton. along with nieces and nephews Matthew, Brian, Sarah, Daniel and Colleen; grandnieces Bella and Madison and grandnephew Jonathon. Additionally, he leaves behind several cousins and many lifelong friends.

He was pre-deceased by a son, Alex B. Emerson, and his only brother, Alvah R. Emerson.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Honoring the wishes of the family, there are no calling hours planned. Burial will take place in Spring 2023 in Cheshire Cemetery with a graveside service and Celebration of Life to be named at a later date.
