John B. Tassone, 97

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —  John Batista Tassone, 97 of North Adams, MA died on Sunday December 11, 2022 after a brief stay at North Adams Commons.

He was born in North Adams, MA on October 27, 1925, a son of Antonio and Theresa (Ciardi) Tassone. He attended local schools including Drury High School.

John was a veteran of World War II and served in the US Navy in the Pacific.

He worked at General Electric Co in Pittsfield for 30 years until his retirement in 1986. John was a member of Stamford Valley Golf Course and the bowling league at Mt. Greylock Bowl. John was a lover of music, an avid walker and a loyal fan of The Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.

His wife was Mary Ann (Mahoney) Tassone, who died on July 21, 2001. They were married on October 23, 1948. Survivors include two daughters- Lynn A. (Christopher) Riordan of North Adams, MA and Karen L. (Robert) Foote of Adams, MA and two sons- Craig R. (Candice) Tassone of Virginia Beach, VA and Christopher J. (Renee) Tassone of North Adams, MA. He also leaves seven grandchildren including Tara Stred, Adam Tassone, Ashley Riordan, Jocelyn Lentine, Amanda Shank, Spencer Tassone, Michael Riordan; five great grandchildren- Derek Stred, Ryleigh Lentine, Austin Lentine, Molly Shank and Roma Tassone; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews especially John Lazarczyk for taking him on several vacations. He was predeceased by five brothers and six sisters- Carmela, Angeline, Theresa, Letizia, Rose, Rita, Dominic, Francis, Angelo, Joseph and Bruno. John was also predeceased by his grandson, Christopher Lefave. John's family wants to thank the staff of the North Adams Commons for the wonderful care they provided.

Very sorry to hear about John passing. Mary and John were among some of the most caring people I have known. They always made me feel welcomed in their home.

Mary and John were great neighbors.
They were 2nd parents to me and my brothers and sisters. Mary always had Italian gravey on the stove while John once retired sat at the table with his coffee and condensed milk. So many good memories.
