Deborah Lusignan, 51

WINDSOR, Mass. — Deborah Rose Lusignan, 51, of Windsor died Friday, Dec. 9, 2022.

Debbie was born in Pittsfield on July 16, 1971, a daughter of Edmond and Elisabeth Lusignan and sister to Kerry Lusignan. She graduated from Taconic High School in 1989. She went on to acquire her associates from Berkshire Community college and later her bachelor's in nursing through the University of Massachusetts.

While Debbie's last place of formal employment was at Austen Riggs Center in Stockbridge, she devoted most of her life to creative endeavors. She was known in the community for her love of estate sales, antiques and collectibles. She specialized in vintage clothing, toys, and Christmas. Toward the end of her life, Debbie went on to get her license in massage therapy. Her goal was to open her own apothecary where she could combine her passion for herbology and the healing of massage therapy.

At her core, Debbie's passion was helping people, which could be seen in her political work and through her donations and charity within her communities. But the absolute joy in her life came from her love of her two children, Shawn Kirchner, 35, and Nadia Lusignan, 27, whom she loved with all of her being. Debbie also had a passion for gardening. You could find her in her yard, creating beauty wherever she went. Other passions included photography, good food, warm sandy beaches, anything Christmas and her activism.

Debbie's passionate, creative and generous spirit will be profoundly missed and cherished by her loved ones who have survived her, including her parents, Edmond and Elisabeth Lusignan of Pittsfield; her fiance, David Birrell of Windsor; her children, Shawn Kirchner and Nadia Lusignan; her stepdaughter, Marguerite Birrell; her sister, Kerry Lusignan; her niece, Ever Lusignan, and her Samoyed puppy, Faye.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Please join Debbie's family and friends to gather in her honor and celebrate her life this Friday, Dec. 16, 2022, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a memorial service to begin at 5:30. Location is Proprietor's Lodge, 22 Waubeek Road, Pittsfield, Mass.

I'm sad to learn of Debbie's passing. She was one of a kind. RIP
from: Mark Joneson: 07-18-2023

We are beyond saddened to hear about Debbie’s passing. We came across her YouTube channel back in 2016 during the presidential election cycle. We would often watch her YouTube channel to get a sense of sanity in complete and utter chaos. We loved her wit, admired her intelligence, and were comforted by her humor. Sending all our love to the Sane Progressive.

I was aware of Debbie through her Youtube channel, The Sane Progressive, where she commented chiefly on politics. I appreciated her voice in that area very much and missed her greatly when she shut the channel down. I was unaware of her passing until just this morning when for some reason she popped into my mind and I looked up her old YouTube moniker (The Sane Progressive) which led me to this notice. I’m terribly sad to hear of her passing. My deepest condolences to her family and friends.

Had the pleasure of living next door to Debbie for many years on Maple Street. So very sorry for the loss of such strong and amazing woman. Sincerest condolences to the family, especially to Nadia.

I am so heartbroken to hear that Debbie has left us. I had many long conversations with her, especially regarding election integrity and Bernie Sanders. We were also connected by my connection to Pittsfield, MA where my parents lived for many years. She was so intelligent, knowledgeable and passionate. I’m sure that contributed to her depression. She will be missed by many, including me.

We are so sorry to hear about the death of our favorite political commentator, Debbie the Sane Progressive. Back around the 2016 election we rarely missed any of her podcasts up until the time she gave it up. We've missed listening to her. We especially loved her trip to Cape Cod where she hung out with all the seals. She was truly a pioneer, and a very brave soul. She was a voice of sanity in a a world of madness. I've often wondered what became of her and how she was doing. She will be sorely missed. Rest in peace, dear Debbie. But also raise some Hell in Heaven.

I followed her from the start. I miss the "go to gang" Tatsu being one of them, as Claudia, Gerard, Ty, and many others. We were like a family for a brief time in which we would say aloud the unpopular "conspiracy'' take down of MSM and of course, the FB censors were taking notes. I'd look for Debbie's video after any breaking news story and we were of such like minds I was grateful for her online presence as she publically validated my opinion in a way that was well-researched and articulate. We've lost one of the best- Peace out Deb!

Although I hadn't seen her in a few years, I mourn Debbie's passing as if I saw her yesterday. She was an incredible person full of fun, politics, creativity and love. I will forever remember sharing dinners in front of the Christmas tree with all of the antique ornaments, or enjoying a firepit in the back yard. She was also my photography mentor...she took incredible photos.
My thoughts and condolences to her family.

I was just wondering recently what had happened to the Sane Progressive, Deborah. She helped bring clarity to things I was trying to work through in 2016. What a generous mind and heart and soul May your journey bring peace.
