Recollections & Sympathy For the Family

My condolences to all of Major General Perenick's family and friends. I had the honor to be his driver for several years in the Massachusetts Army National Guard. General Perenick was always a gentleman. I never saw him lose his temper. But I do remember one time when he told me that I was his assigned driver and that if anyone wanted to drive him, I was to firmly tell that person, no! I was his driver.

I will miss him. During Almni Weekends at Norwich, I looked forward to finding him and saying hello.

To Chuck, his son, I am sorry for your loss. I enjoyed the time I served with both your dad and you, Chuck. My best to your family.

I'm saddened to hear of my cousin Charlie's passing. He was always smiling, friendly, and good natured. I remember being so impressed when I saw him in his state trooper uniform. My dad, Peter Mancuso, Charlie's uncle, admired Charlie especially for all his community involvement. I'm glad I had a chance to see him at a Perenick family picnic a few years back. My sincerest condolences to Elsa and all of Charlie's family.

Another memory about Charlie's prowess as a Drury high school athlete. The school used to post a chart in the spring with all the track team records. I was on the track team in the high jump, and I noticed Charlie still had the record at 5'6" or 5'9". Something like that. It was one of the oldest records. This was about 1969/70, so he held the record for about 20 years. Quite a feat.

He was a great man. May he rest in peace.

Very sad to hear of Charlie's passing. My father loved Charlie and all the Perenicks. I remember when I was a kid, Charlie came over to the house with his state trooper uniform on, and I was so impressed seeing him standing there in front of me. Whenever someone mentioned something about Charlie to my father he would get a twinkle in his eyes and was as proud of him as he was his own kids.

I am so very sad about the loss of my Uncle Charlie. He has touched so many people with his love & kindness. A tremendous loss for so many of us. I will always remember our time at the beach house. Our long walks on the beach, going out to dinner & our family reunions. I am truly blessed to be in a family that shows how much they love you. To my beautiful cousins Kim, Charlie, Dan & Andy, I will keep you in my thoughts, in my prayers & in my heart.
Tiamo,
Cousin Judy

Charlie was a couple of years ahead of me at Drury so I didn't really know him, but I certainly knew of him. He was a leader, an athlete, and had a reputation of being a genuine "nice" guy. Condolences to the family and loved ones.
