Michael F. Dowling Jr., 83
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Michael Francis Dowling Jr., 83, of North Adams, MA died Thursday November 24, 2022 at Bay State Medical Center.
He was born in North Adams, MA on February 3, 1939, a son of Michael Francis Dowling and Pasqualina Josephina (Mondia) Dowling. He graduated from Drury High School in 1958, where he played football, basketball and track and was the captain of the football team. Mike also held the school record for the 100 yard dash for many years.
He was last employed by the City of North Adams Public Schools. Before that, Mike worked at Williams College where he operated the snack bar at Baxter Hall.
He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Mike played softball for many years and coached the Whitney’s Drug Store team in the North Adams Little League. He also coached youth basketball. Mike was the #1 fan of the McCann Tech Girls Soccer team. He was devoted to his family and attended all of his grandchildren's and great grandchildren's events.
His beloved wife Barbara Ann (Skiffington) Dowling died on February 21, 2019. They were married on October 8, 1960. Survivors include two daughters- Kelly A. (Harold) Bohl of Brewster, MA and Jennifer L. (Daniel) Morgan of North Adams and one son- Michael F. (Jennifer) Dowling III of Stamford, VT. He also leaves seven grandchildren- Brian (Makayla) Dowling, Kierstyn Bohl, Jared (Kaysie) Bohl, Kevin Dowling, Aimee Dowling, Ethan Morgan and Ella Morgan; five great grandchildren- Logan, Brayden, McKenzie, Addison and Riley; his companion- Mary Ann Maroni; two sisters- Rose Marie Upton and Faith Flemming, both of North Adams; and nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by four sisters and one brother including Dolores Dowling, Eleanor Davis, Patricia Sifton, Lauren Dowling and Harold F. Dowling.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Michael F. Dowling Jr. will be celebrated Wednesday November 30, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA are Tuesday from 4-7 PM.
