Lawrence P. Lorusso, 69

CLARKSBURG, Mass. — Lawrence P. Lorusso, 69, of Clarksburg died Friday, Oct. 28, 2022, peacefully at home after a bout with cancer.

He is survived by his significant other, Lois Hobbie-Welch; 2 daughters, Patrice Neil of Crawford, CO, Jeanine Lorusso of Monroe, NH; Lois' daughters, Kyla Daley of Plymouth, Lauren Corr of Medford; 4 grandchildren; his Ute family; fellow river runners; and close friends.

Born in Reno, NV, he was the son of Daniel Lorusso and Irene Lemoine.

Larry, owner of Cytafex Studio, was an adventurer, a commercial and landscape photographer, a white water river rafting guide, and a conservationist at heart. He had immeasurable passion for nature and wished to share his experiences with others through photography, rafting, and hiking. While Larry had a fondness for many places, rafting in the Grand Canyon was one of his deepest loves. He enjoyed the company of his loved ones, family, close friends, and striking up a conversation with someone he had just met.

Larry had enormous respect for all animals, including the dogs in his life, which he regarded as his best friends. He was a perpetual student and teacher in life and embodied the phrase you often heard him say: each day is a gift.

Per Larry's request, a celebration of life will be held in lieu of a funeral service at the convenience of the family in the spring of 2023. Those who wish to make a memorial contribution in Larry's name are asked to consider a donation to Pop Cares (non-profit organization helping local cancer patients in the Northern Berkshire and bordering Southern Vermont towns): PO Box 482, Williamstown, MA 01267 or visit: https://www.popcares.org/get-involved; Central Vermont Humane Society, 1589 VT Route 14 South, East Montpelier, VT 05651 or visit: https://centralvermonthumane.org/online-donations/

I met Larry back in the 1970's when he first took a photography class at the Worcester Center for Crafts. I knew from the start he was exceptional. He has been in and out of my life ever since. His creative spirit, his courage and his dedication will live on in all the people he has touched over the many years. His life had meaning for all of us and I like to think he continues to inspire us all to be the best we can be.

I have known Larry since the mid 1970's. We worked for the same photo companies at times and had many discussions about photography & life's challenges / problems. We also shared a few photo trips in western Ma. He was a excellent photographer and a good person. He will be missed.
