William G. Coody, 76

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —  William George Coody, 76, of North Adams died on Friday, October 7, 2022 at home.

William was born in North Adams on July 18, 1946 a son of the late George S. Coody & Veronica A. (Miller) Coody. He attended schools in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School.

William was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War receiving several citations and medals including the Vietnam Service Medal, 4 Overseas Bars, Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm and the Purple Heart. After the military he was employed at the Berkshire Tannery where he worked as a leather softener operator for many years. He was also an avid fisherman with the Deerfield River being his favorite place.

William was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. He was also a member of the Vietnam Veterans and the Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his daughter Christine Coody of Easthampton, son Steven E. Coody of Hawkinsville GA; Sisters Marilyn Mahar, Phyllis Gaule, Janine Zoito, Carol Burdick, and Martha Pratt; and brother Edward Coody, a grandchild and many nieces and nephews. William is predeceased by his brother Michael Coody.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A private burial with military honors for William Coody will take place in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St. Agawam, MA. Agawam, MA. on Thursday October 13, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations are suggested for Elder Services of Berkshire County, 877 South St. Pittsfield, MA. 01201. I am deeply saddened to learn of Bill's passing he was certainly one heck of a good walking g stick maker and I have received more compliments on the one he made for me my deepest condolences to Coody's family on Bills passing.

I am shocked to learn of the passing of Bill, I just seen him a few ways ago sitting on his porch,Bill lived across the street from my Father on West Main St and when my Dad passed he came over to give his condolences, I've known Bill for many years and I would always see Bill sitting on the porch.
