John Fachini, 88

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —  John Fachini, 88 of North Adams, MA died on Tuesday October 4, 2022 at his home.

He was born in North Adams, MA on January 2, 1934, a son of Antonio Giuseppe Fachini and Edna Alice (Bratcher) Fachini. He attended local schools.

John worked at A. Shapiro & Sons for many years. He was a communicant of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church. John enjoyed driving race cars and snow mobiles. He was an avid hunter and sportsman.

Survivors include one daughter- Dina L. Fachini of North Adams and one son- John E. Fachini of Kingfield, ME. He also leaves five grandchildren including Michael Coody, Dorothy Berthiaume, Desiree McDonald, Jordan McDonald and Douglas Blair; thirteen great grandchildren; two sisters- Irene Schroeder of Methuen, MA and Diane Vattes of NH and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter- Debra Hook and his sisters and brothers including Elizabeth, Mary, Edith, Carol, James, Joseph, Robert, Anthony, Michael, and Louis.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A graveside service for John Fachini will be held on Tuesday October 11, 2022 at 1:30 PM at Southview cemetery in North Adams. Memorial donations may be made to the Adams Outdoorsmen for Youth in care of FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA 01247. My sincere condolences to the surviving Fachini family. As a State St kid hanging out with Jimmie and Diane Fachini I was always impressed with John for his hard work, humor, and of course his legendary hunting prowess. I am sure he will be missed by many.

My beloved "Uncle", you are a legend! You have made it where others cannot. You have been there with all of your stories, your discipline, your kindness, your teaching abilities, and most of all - being just you with visiting me and my family daily! You were like a dad to my dad, and I am grateful for everything you have done! I love you to the moon and back! I am so sorry for the loss of my deceased husband's brother John. Unfortunately I will be unable to attend due to my own health issues. John was a great man and he will be missed dearly. My condolences to all family.

I really enjoyed John’s company when he mowed the lawn at the VFW. He always made a point to come in a visit me. He was a kind and gentle man. Thoughts and prayers sent to entire Fachini family.
