John Carlton Racette, 92, of North Adams died on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Berkshire Medical Center-North Adams.
John was born in North Adams on August 11, 1930 a son of the late Arthur Joseph & Mildred Helen (Carsno) Racette.
John attended schools in North Adams. John was a member of the Massachusetts National Guard for 12 years. He was first employed with the Western Union in North Adams. Later he was employed at Wall – Streeter Shoe Company in North Adams for 25 years until it ceased operation. He was last employed with North Adams State College-Maintenance Department in North Adams until he retired in 1992 after 16 years.
John is a member of North Adams Lodge 704, Sons of Italy where he served as Vice President and Trustee for several years. He was a communicant of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church and St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in North Adams.
John married his beloved wife, Theresa Marie (Rotolo) Racette, on August 1, 1953 in St. Anthony of Padua Church in North Adams she died on December 10, 2019.
Survivors include his children, Sharyn Armitage (David) of North Adams, David John Racette (Alice) of North Adams, and Arthur "Jack" Racette (Michelle) of North Adams. He also leaves his six beloved grandchildren, Jacob Racette, Molly Racette, Justin Racette, Collin Racette, Danielle Racette and Reece Racette. He is also survived by his brother, Robert “Skip” Racette and six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by four sisters and three brothers including Shirley Clukey, Patricia Goman, Jean Bessette, Sandra Racette Arthur "Flash" Racette, Richard Racette and Donald Racette.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial to Celebrate the life of John Racette will take place Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 11:00 a.m at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, North Adams, MA. Calling hours will be on Monday October 10, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home, CENTRAL CHAPELS, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA, burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
