Joan Ouellette, 91

ADAMS, Mass. —  

Mrs. Joan (Lahey) Ouellette, a lifeling resident of Adams, passed away peacefully at her home with her daughter by her side, on October 1, 2022.

Joan was born in Adams on August 2, 1931, to the late William and Elizabeth (Hakes) Lahey.

She leaves two sisters, Nancy Patenaude of North Adams and Muriel Roswell of West Point, VA; her sister-in-law, Shirley Kosche of Barnstable, MA; Her daughter Laura Jeanne and her husband Michael E. Videtta of Uxbridge, MA; three grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband Nathan Cannon of Salem, NH, Tracy Videtta of Adams and Michael R. Videtta of Maine; a great grandson, Henry F. Cannon III of Salem, NH and her best friend Pat Alibozek.

Joan was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Richard P. Ouellette, who died on July 18, 2021.

Joan attended Adams schools, graduating in 1949 from the former Adams High School. Later in her marriage, she attended the former North Adams State College graduating in 1973. She was a member of the Alpha Chi Honor Society and served as its treasurer between 1971 and 1972. She taught briefly at the now closed Notre Dame School in Adams.

In 1976, Joan was appointed to the Adams Personnel Board, in August of that year, she was named chairwomen. In the late 1980’s, Joan served as the vice chairwoman on the North Adams State College Board of Trustees. In 1987, she was appointed, by unanimous decision, to be chairwoman for the 1987-1988 school year.

Joan and her late husband Dick enjoyed spending winters in Florida, golf and watching her beloved Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 12th at 10:30 A.M. from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. in Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church, Adams.

Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams.

Calling hours are Wednesday morning from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home.
