Shirley Remillard, 96

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —  Shirley Alice (Degere) Remillard, 96 of North Adams, MA died on Tuesday September 20, 2022 at North Adams Commons.

She was born in Adams, MA on June 15, 1926, a daughter of Alfred and Yvonne (Johnson) Degere. She attended Adams schools.

In her younger years, Shirley worked at Sprague Electric Co. She was primarily a homemaker and was devoted to her family. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Shirley enjoyed bowling, cross stitching, ice skating and reading. She was an avid Boston Red Sox baseball fan.

She was the widow of Donat Remi Remillard who died on June 10, 2000. They were married on November 30, 1946. Survivors include one daughter- Lisa A. Remillard of North Adams, MA; and three sons- Richard D. (Kathryn) Remillard of North Adams; Dennis R. (Kathleen) Remillard of Adams, MA and Scott A. (Denise) Remillard of Clarksburg, MA. She also leaves eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son- Neil Remillard in 2011; four grandchildren are deceased including Amy Remillard, Bonnie Kennedy, Matthew Remillard, and Nicholas Remillard; and four brothers and one sister are deceased- Helen Milne and Francis, Robert, Richard and James Degere.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Shirley Remillard will be celebrated Wednesday September 28, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA are Tuesday from 4-7 PM. Memorial donations may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital or St. Jude's Children's Hospital in care of the funeral home.
