Debbie Joseph Griffin, 71

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Debbie Joseph Griffin, 71, passed away on Friday, Aug. 12, 2022, in the state of Florida after a short illness that she met with much strength.

She was born in Adams on April 20, 1951, to Joseph "Joe" Joseph and Zowd Peters Joseph. She was proud of her Lebanese heritage. She grew up in North Adams and attended the former St. Joseph's School, where her father worked as caretaker of the church and school. During her youth, she was involved in dance and especially loved ballet.

She graduated from then North Adams State College and moved to San Diego, Calif., where she worked as a teacher and married Jeffrey Griffin, together raising their son, Michael. She later moved to West Palm Beach, Fla., and worked as a self-employed, licensed massage therapist until her retirement.

She loved reading, traveling, and living a healthy and active lifestyle. She spoke her mind and was not afraid to share her opinions.

She leaves her beloved son, Michael Griffin and his father, Jeff, with whom she remained friends; her brother and best friend Mark Joseph and his wife, Teresa; her niece Katie; great-nephew Ayden; great-niece Lucy; cousins Pam Gerry, David and Kim Peters; aunt Alice Joseph, extended family locally and in Florida, and her dog Zoey.

She was predeceased by her cousin Tina Wegrzyn.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A private burial will be held at a later date. Donations in her memory can be made to the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter, 875 Crane Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
