Gregory "Unit" Chittenden, 69

READSBORO, Vt. —  

Mr. Gregory "Unit" Donald Chittenden, 69, of Readsboro, died on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at his home.

He was born in Adams on June 7, 1952, son of the late Milton Donald and Irene (Sudacki) Chittenden. He attended schools in Adams and graduated from the Charles H. McCann Technical High School with the class of 1970. While attending high school he played on the basketball team and was a tool and die maker.

Following graduation Greg went to work for the former General Electric Company in Pittsfield. He then worked as a truck driver for various companies with his last place of employment was Eilers Brothers Trucking Company in Readsboro.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed playing chess, checkers and cribbage.

He is survived by his sister Maureen Chittenden of Adams and by many cousins.

He was predeceased by a sister Jane Anne Chittenden who died in infancy.

The funeral will be held on Friday, May 6th at 11:00 A.M. in the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams.

Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams.

Calling hours are Friday morning from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service in the funeral home.

I knew Greg for many years. First, from the former Village Nook Restaurant where he was a regular and more recently, I would often run into him at the Daily Grind. He was nice guy with a great sense of humor. ~ R.I.P. Greg ~

I'm sorry to learn this. I remember Greg from my teenage years as a dishwasher at the Whitcomb Summit, in the 1970s. At the time he was going out with the cook. Greg and Pat used to take me out, and having Greg with you meant you feared no one. Greg took my brother Dan racoon hunting. He was as large and bold and jovial as Jove, himself.
