Martha Benoit, 84

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —  Martha Ruth (Tankersley) Benoit, 84 of North Adams, MA died Monday April 4, 2022 at Williamstown Commons.

She was born in Nashville, TN on October 24, 1937, a daughter of the late Clarence Etheridge Tankersley and Lillie Louise (Lewis) Tankersley. She attended schools in Nashville and graduated from Howard High School. Before coming to North Adams, she worked at the Nashville Tennessean Newspaper and was last employed by Sprague Electric Co. for 25 years until her retirement. Martha attended the Baptist Church in Tennessee and enjoyed Bingo and Pokeno.

She was the widow of Leo Arthur Benoit Jr. who died on February 6, 2018. They were married on April 5, 1957. Survivors include two daughters- Connie (Michael) Tifft of Clarksburg, MA and Christel (Daniel) Massaconi of Cheshire, MA; and two sons- Randall K. (Marsha) Benoit of North Adams, MA and Kenneth (Alicia) Benoit of Clarksburg. She also leaves 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Her son- Leo A. Benoit III died in 2018.
