John Harris Sr. 54

Local Businessman and First Responder.

John Mark Harris Sr. 54 of Cheshire, MA. died Tuesday March 29, 2022 at Berkshire Medical Center. He was born in North Adams on February 17, 1968 a son of Barbara Ann (Cook) Harris and the late Robert Mitchell Harris. John attended Mt. Greylock High School.

He was the devoted owner and operator with his son John Jr. of United Rooter in Cheshire and the former Harris & Son Excavating Co. Earlier he was employed for the United States Postal Service serving Pittsfield, Cheshire and Richmond.

John was a member of the Adams Ambulance Service, Village Ambulance Service and Northern Berkshire EMS. He also was a member of the Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department and a junior member of the Lanesboro Fire Department. He was member of the LaFayette-Greylock Lodge of Masons in North Adams and also a member of the Melha Shriners in Springfield, MA. John enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, gardening and metal detecting. But most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his mother Barbara Harris, wife of 28 years Tammy Lynn (Moser) whom he married July 3, 1993 and loving children Amber Augello and husband Brett of Pittsfield, John Mark Harris Jr. and companion Gabrielle Dudley of Cheshire and Brianna Harris and companion Jacob Wendling of Hancock, Candice Voghel and Thomas Cahalan. He also leaves seven grandchildren Keiara, Justin, Chase, Jacob, Aurora, Tucker and Camdyn, brothers Mitchell Harris of North Adams, James Voghel of Pittsfield, sister Katherine Cahalan of Florida. Several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers Robert and Craig Voghel.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday April 5, 2022 at 11a.m at St. Mary's of Assumption Church in Cheshire, MA. Burial will take place later in the family plot in Cheshire Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday April 4, 2022 at the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA. from 4-7 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested for the Adams Ambulance Service through the funeral home.
