Barry R. Gauthier, 66

BENNINGTON, Vt. — Barry R. Gauthier, 66, a resident of Pucker Hill Road in Bennington, died Sunday, March 20, 2022, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington following a brief illness.
 
He was born in Taunton, Mass. on September 1, 1955. He was the son of the late Leo F. Gauthier and Ellen A. (Tanes) Gauthier. He received his education in Taunton and was a graduate of Coyle Cassidy High School in Taunton. He later attended North Adams State College.
 
Barry worked in sales most of his life, getting his start in the industry with Girardi Distributors in Pittsfield, MA.  After nine years in beverage sales, he went on to work in sporting goods sales management until his retirement in 2018.
 
His first love was baseball, playing up into his forties and in his later years coaching his grandchildren's t-ball team and serving as the pitching coach for the Arlington High School.  He was a gun enthusiast and a member of NRA and the Big Spruce Hunting Club.  More than anything, he adored his grandchildren and spent time with them playing games, doing arts and crafts, watching movies, fishing and butterfly hunting. 
 
Survivors include a daughter Erin Wright and her husband T.J. of Bennington. A stepdaughter, Amy Eichhammer and her husband Craig of North Adams, Mass. His grandchildren, Tucker and Harper Wright of Bennington and a step-granddaughter Bailee Duquette of North Adams, Mass. Two brothers, Mark Gauthier of Bennington and Kevin Gauthier of Taunton, Mass. A sister, Sharon Matthews and her husband Rob of Middleboro, Mass. Along with two nieces, a nephew (his godson) and a great-niece.
 
Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Saturday, April 2, from 11:00 a.m. until noon.
 
A memorial service will be offered at the funeral home on Saturday at noon.  A reception and celebration of his life will follow at the Woodford Town Hall.
