Alice Haskins Johnson

Alice Haskins Johnson, 94, formerly of Cheshire, MA, passed away March 3, 2022 at Craneville Place in Dalton, where she has resided for the past four years.

Born in North Adams, MA on March 1, 1928, she was the daughter of Harry and Florence Lanoue Haskins.

Alice was educated in Cheshire and Adams schools and was a 1946 graduate of Adams High School.

She married Robert Henry Johnson, Jr. on January 8, 1949 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire. He predeceased her on September 6, 2011.

Mrs. Johnson was a telephone operator for New England Telephone Company for 30 years, retiring in 1981.

A communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire, she was an associate of the Sisters of St. Joseph. She was also a part of the telephone pioneers.

She is survived by her children, Frances Thomas, Karen Reynolds (George Reynolds), Brian Johnson (Linda Johnson), Julie Dzbenski (Ted Dzbenski), all of Cheshire, Robert Johnson (Janis Johnson) of Maine, Jennifer Littlejohn of CO, and Mary Alice Wolf (Stewart Wolf) of MD. 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Laura Littlejohn, her son-in-law, Dennis Thomas, and her granddaughter-in-law, Katherine Dzbenski.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held, Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire. Burial will immediately follow at Cheshire Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Church; Sisters of St. Joseph; or the Cheshire Pantry in care of Dery-Cheshire Funeral Home, PO Box 445, Cheshire, MA 01225.
