Joseph J. Rotolo, 71

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. —  Mr. Joseph James Rotolo, 71, of 25 Adams Road, Williamstown Commons Nursing Home and a former longtime resident of 42 Cherry Street, North Adams passed away on Monday February 7, 2022 at Williamstown Commons.

Joe was born in North Adams on April 21, 1950 along with his identical twin brother James. Joe was the son of the late Marie A. Sherry Rotolo and the late Joseph J. Rotolo. Joe attended St. Joseph's Catholic School and Drury High School in North Adams. He proudly served in the Massachusetts National Guard for over 20 years until his honorable discharge in 1991. For much of his career, Joe was a member of LiUNA Local 473 working at Vermont Yankee and the beginning construction of Mass MOCA. He also worked for many of his younger years at the former Arnold Print Works in Adams, MA with his brother Jim by his side. Joe had a love for great food, family, and friends and a passion for bringing people together over a good meal. He and Jim were well-known for their event catering over the years and their delicious homemade cheesecakes and meat pies were always holiday favorites.

Joe was a member of the American Legion Post #125, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #310, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #996. He was predeceased by his identical twin brother James F. Rotolo on May 7, 2014. Survivors include his two brothers Thomas S. Rotolo and his partner Kathy Noel, of Adams and Timothy L. Rotolo and his wife Debbra, of North Adams; and one sister Christina M. Rotolo of Ft. Myers, FL

He also leaves two nieces Tanya M. Rotolo of Melrose, MA and Jennifer L. Raimer and her husband Matthew, of Loudon, NH and one nephew Thomas J. Rotolo of Clarksburg, MA.

At the family’s request, there will be no calling hours and burial service will be held on Friday, March 4th, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the family plot at Southview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe's memory may be made through Flynn and Dagnoli to the Berkshire Humane Society or to Parkinson's Research. Joe was an animal lover and found great comfort in his sister’s dogs, Teddy and Maggie, while residing with her following his Parkinson's diagnosis. To Tina, Tom, and Tim, Saddened to learn today of Joe's passing. The Twins were special guy's... didn't know anyone in town who didn't like them, as these accolades tell, they'd help out anybody. Legendary, they are... My prayers and condolence to the Family.

So, so sorry to hear this sad news. I served with them in the North Adams National Guard for a short time and knew other family members. They are all wonderful people and going to be missed. My deepest sympathy and condolences to the family and friends.

Tina Tim Tom A long time friend back in my days in NA. Always a smile on face and more importantly if you needed a hand doing anything he was there to help. Joe and he were twins but they were like salt and pepper you never saw one without the other. The good they all die young.
