Chester Bury, 89

ADAMS, Mass. —  

Mr. Chester Edmund Bury, 89, of Adams, died on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at Berkshire Medical Center in North Adams.

He was born in Adams on October 3, 1932, son of the late Frank and Katherine (Kuza) Bury. He attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former Adams High School where he was an outstanding three sport athlete and a nine-letterman playing football, basketball and baseball. He then attended Springfield College and the American International College, both in Springfield, MA.

Mr. Bury was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served with the United States Army with the 166th Medical Detachment to the 85th Field Artillery near the DMZ line until receiving his honorable discharge as Sergeant.

Following his return from the service he played Semi-Professional and excelled in all three sports in the western Mass area.

Mr. Bury last worked as the Veterans Director and Agent for the town of Adams being appointed in July of 1984 and retiring on June 30, 1998. Earlier he had worked for 28 years as a printer and supervisor of the roller department of the former Adams Print Works until 1983.

He was a member of the Arnold Print Works Management and Quarter Century Club, the Machine Printers and Engravers Association, the Western Mass Veterans Service Association, Adams Post 160 American Legion and Adams Post 1995 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife, the former Joan S. Bissaillon; his son Mitchell Bury of Boston and by many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Edward and Frederick Bury and by a sister Gladys Bozek.

At the request of Mr. Bury there will be no funeral services.

a remembrance---Only non senior(soph) as starter on great 1950 BB team--one who should have been named to top 50 of century list. PLus --a really genuine guy who always was "Chet" and not ever the great athlete. One of Adams athletic legends. Bob
