John Herzig, 80
ADAMS, Mass. —
John Kenneth Herzig, 80 of Adams, MA died Tuesday February 8, 2022 at his home with his wife and daughters by his side, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.
He was born in Adams, MA on August 16, 1941, a son of Kenneth E. and Catherine (Ponti) Herzig. He attended Cheshire schools and graduated from Adams Memorial High School with the class of 1959.
John worked at Crane and Company in North Adams for several years until his retirement. Before that, he worked at Sprague Electric Co; Krofta Engineering and General Cable.
He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. John enjoyed fishing, trips to Cape Cod and Maine. John was an avid reader of James Patterson books and loved going to the casino. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Marie (Roy) Herzig and they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 16th. He also leaves two daughters- Heidi L. (Scott) Lussier of Yarmouthport, MA and Kristen L. (Steven) Fellmann of Cheshire, MA; and four grandchildren- Megan Lussier Wong; Molly E. (Christopher Pirozzi) Lussier; Kaitlyn Marie Affhauser and Kyle John Affhauser; and two great grandchildren- Anderson Wong and Evan Wong. A special thanks to Brenda Renaud his caregiver and friend.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for John K. Herzig will be celebrated Saturday February 19, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery. A calling hour at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA will be Saturday morning from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
