Jean Bushika, 85

Jean Bushika

It is with great sadness that the family of Jean L. (Witto) Bushika, 85, of Stamford, VT, announce her passing on Saturday, December 18, 2021. She was born in Clarksburg, MA., on August 9, 1936, a daughter of James and Pauline (Cardinal) Witto. Jean attended schools in Clarksburg and Drury High School in North Adams.

Jean began her young career at the candy counter at the Paramount movie theater, but she dedicated herself to her family in the role of a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She led a quiet, peaceful, private life, but was an extraordinarily strong, smart, and independent woman. She was a brilliant creator: a skilled and avid gardener, baker, cake decorator, needleworker, knitter, crocheter, seamstress, and quilter of many masterpieces gifted to her family and donated to those in need. Her passion in life was children and babies, and she spent a good deal of time rocking the children of the family and volunteering to provide the same in local infant rooms. Jean and her husband enjoyed traveling and took many trips in their retirement across the United States. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her loving and devoted husband, Thomas H. Bushika, whom she married August 6, 1955, four loving children, Laura Tatro (Robert) of North Adams, Melissa Robinson (Glenn) of Stamford, Timothy Bushika (Ray) of Bennington and Richard Bushika of North Adams, seven grandchildren: Katelynn Schein (Brian), Ethan Tatro (Tiela), Anthony Bushika, Mathew Bushika, Owen Bushika, Mark Robinson, Avery Robinson and five great-granddaughters. A son predeceased Jean, David W. Bushika, who died September 7, 1984, and her elder siblings: Ruth Sumner, (Gertrude)Mae Sumner, Katherine Amlaw and James Witto.

Calling hours are private and Graveside services to honor Jean Bushika’s Life will take place in the family plot in Millard Cemetery in Stamford, VT., in the Spring. Memorial donations are suggested for the Stamford Volunteer Fire Department through the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA.
