Amanda Marie Baker, 30

MIDDLEFIELD, Mass. — Amanda Marie Baker, age 30 of Middlefield. passed away June 11 in her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Aug. 23, 1990, at Berkshire Medical Center to her father, Steven Baker, and mother, Amy Baker.

Amanda graduated from Gateway Regional High School in 2008 and attended Berkshire Community College pursuing a career in medicine. She worked as a tutor while attending college and worked as a PCA for Stavros Inc.

Amanda was known for her inquisitive mind. As a young child she spent her days barefoot, roaming around outdoors, actively engaging in nature. Often times she would bring critters in the house for brief visits (this even included snakes). Amanda also loved to swim, and fish.

Although She was diagnosed with Pancreatitis at two years of age and suffered many ensuing health complications, Amanda impacted countless lives through her compassionate heart and loving spirit. From professors and classmates to medical staff and patients she met, her loving heart and her selfless nature became evident to all.

Her sickness never limited her personality and sense of humor. She would regularly impersonate and quote entire scenes from her favorite Adam Sandler movies. It was always easy to enjoy a laugh with Amanda. Even as an adult, she maintained the innocence of a child.

Amanda frequently spent time with her Nieces and Nephew, for whom she cared about and loved very much. The love that she shared with her family seemed to motivate and drive her through the many obstacles she overcame in her life.

Amanda is survived by her parents Steven and Amy Baker of Middlefield, Her grandparents Joan and Brad Baker of Swanzey, NH., Her brother Matthew Baker and fiancé Jessie Walton of Huntington, Her sister Alicia Poroit and husband Kevin Poroit of Florida, Her Nieces Jazzmyn Valego, Kendall Poroit, her nephew Dominic Arnold also of Florida.

A celebration of life will be planned later this summer in memory of Amanda.

I am so sad to see this beautiful lady pass. She was so positive always when we saw her at our office of Dr. Mckee. She never complained about her illness and always was so sweet with a beautiful smile on her face no matter what. We will miss her terribly. Our hearts go out to all of the family and fiends of Amanda.

Soo very grateful this sweet, beautiful girl was in my life. My heart aches. I wrote and rewrote a paragraph of personal moments we had and the impact she had in my life, but in the end I am just grateful and I look forward to seeing her again some day - in eternity with our Heavenly Father. My heart goes out to Steve, Amy and the family. Praying for you all. God bless❤️

To the Baker family, I can't really come up with words in the English language to express how special this girl was. I read all the comments and they are all true. The last time I personally spoke with her was 3 years ago so their has been some disconnect. But when you spoke with her you felt inspired despite her challenges with her health. What a incredibly beautiful human being inside and out!! She is with the Lord Jesus now. She will be missed so much.
