Robert A. Spofford, 62

ADAMS, Mass. — Robert A. Spofford, 62, of 88 Orchard St., died Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 1, 2015, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, with his wife and mother at his side.

Born in Adams on Jan. 1, 1953, a son of Doris McKay Spofford of Clarksburg and the late Ray Spofford, he attended Clarksburg schools, and graduated from C.H. McCann Technical School with the class of 1972.

Mr. Spofford had been employed in the facilities department at Williams College for 33 years at the time of his death. He had also been a co-owner of the former G & S Sporting Goods store in Clarksburg.

He was a member of the Stamford (Vt.) Sportsman Club and the Hendrick Hudson Fish and Game Club in Averill Park, N.Y. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, and loved cars and motorcycles. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, sharing good times, good food and fine wine.

He and his wife, the former Carol A. Skowronski, were married on Aug. 10, 1990.

Besides his wife of 25 years and his mother, he leaves two brothers, James Spofford and his companion, Janet Zappula, of Clarksburg, and Daniel Spofford and his wife, Lisa, of Jensen Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Tricia Beach and her husband, Larry, of Clarksburg, and Susan Spofford of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; his sister-in-law, Barbara Burke and her husband, Michael, of Loudonville, N.Y.; his nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces, all of with whom he shared a special relationship, and several cousins.

FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Spofford be held on Monday, Dec. 7, at 11 from Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at noon in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, celebrated by the Rev. Steven Montesanti, pastor of the Parish of St. John Paul II. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 until 5 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to PopCares, PO Box 482, Williamstown, MA 01267, or to the Stamford Sportsman Club, in care of David Fierro, 5131 Main Road, Stamford, VT 05352.

I spent a lot of time at the Spofford home in Clarksburg when I was a child. Pat and I were classmates. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Prayers to all of the family.
