May 13, 2007 Elks 11 - Trimarchi Nurseries 3

The score is very deceiving, concerning the competitiveness of this game. Trimarchi Nurseries lead 1-0 after 4 innings of play. Starter Mitch Carlow gave up only one hit and struck out 5 in his 3 innings of pitching. Andrew Milesi scored in the first after he walked. Elks mounted a threat in the top of the fourth but Austin Milesi came in and struck out two batters to retain the lead. Elks tied the score with a Mitch Zajak home run, the first of his LL career in the top of the fifth. Elks broke the game open in the top of the sixth with a Jessie Larabee single, Joey Gwozdz triple and the first of Lew Bordon’s 2 homers in the inning. Matt Carlow came in plug to plug the leak of errors and Bordon’s second dinger (a grand slam) left Trimarchi’s trailing 11-1. Evan Lemaire was hit by pitch and scored on Jeremy Vigiard’s RBI single, which then also scored. Mitch Carlow had singled for Trimarchi as did Nichols, Varno, and Hayer for the Elks. Trimarchi drops 0-5.

May 13, 2007 Val’s 7 - Lions 1

Mike Koperniak pitched 4 innings, allowing only 1 run on 1 hit, while striking out 7 to pick up the win for Val’s. He also helped his cause at the plate with 2 hits and 2 RBI’s. Matt Waltermire pitched 2 scoreless innings of relief to earn a save. Matt Koperniak turned in the play of the day in centerfield, making a leaping catch, falling backward, on a line drive off the bat of Zach O’Neil in the 4th inning, saving a run and ending the inning. Shaun Knapp had 2 hits, including a double, and drove in a run, while Zach Brassard had a double and scored 2 runs for Val’s.

T.J. Therrien had 2 hits for Lions, one being a double. Zach O’Neil had a double and both Danny Baker and Colby Gage had a hit, while, Danny Butler had a RBI. T.J. Therrien was the losing pitcher for the Lions.

May 13, 2007 Stanley’s Lumber 8 - Co-op 0

Twelve year old Conner Tworig pitched an outstanding ball game for the Stanley’s squad as he struck out 14 and held the opponents to a single hit in the win over Co-op. Tworig had excellent control of his pitches and nearly went the distance in the effort. On offense, Tworig helped his own cause by adding 2 hits and scoring a run. Tyler Bissaillon added 2 hits and scored 2 runs. Brandon Tworig, Camden McGrath, and Jake Hall also added hits for the winners. Nine year old Dhandray Sistrunk had his first Little League hit in the 4th inning. Chaise LaBrie and Elias Masse scored runs for the Lumbermen as well.

In their 8-0 loss to Stanley’s, Co-op pitched Corey Puccio, Nate Burdick and Dylan Martins. Getting Co-op’s only hits were Zach Albareda and Alex Bush.
