Spice Renovations Bring Monday Only Shut-Downs

Pittsfield – Spice Restaurant, Bar and Lounge will be closed on Mondays beginning April 16 and return to its regular Monday schedule on May 28 (Memorial Day).

The hiatus is the result of construction being performed on Burger, Spice's burger joint scheduled to open Memorial Day weekend, and Sugar, Spice's dessert bar slated to debut July 4th weekend.

"We're doing major work that will require the shutdown of water, electrical and climate control systems throughout the building," said owner Joyce Bernstein. "That, in addition to the noise factor, would have made for a less-than-ideal customer experience. So we decided that shutting down on Mondays was the way to go."

Bernstein added that this schedule will give the contractors an uninterrupted day to work and the cleaning crew plenty of time to clean up before Spice opens for lunch at 11:30 a.m. each Tuesday.
