John Lonergan will be included in Dan Casey's "Irish In Vermont" talk at the Bennington Free Library.
Bennington, Vt. - The Bennington Free Library will host a free program: “The Irish In Vermont†by historian Dan Casey on Thursday, April 19th at 7:00 p.m..
Casey will present a historical survey of the Irish in America - how they came, what they found, and where they settled. He will also consider the coming of the Irish to the early rural settlements, as well as the later economic draw of Burlington, Rutland and Vermont’s other urban centers.
Significant and colorful characters - the Reverend Jeremiah O’Callaghan, Civil War hero John Lonergan, and Mayor James Edmund Burke - are all part of the story.
Sponsored by the Vermont Humanities Council and hosted by the Bennington Free Library, the program is free and open to the public.
