Williamstown-Following the United States Figure Skating's (USFS) lead at the Williams College Skating Rink in Williamstown, MA, the International Skating Institute (ISI) took to the ice this evening to begin their first day of competition.
The thirty-event contest started off with the Artistic Solo Level 4 Female competition for 9-11 year olds.
Courtney Phillips (Randolph) skated away with the gold medal in this category. Bay State Blades took first and second place in the Artistic Solo Level 4 Female division for 12 year olds, with Stephanie Jones (Swansea) winning gold and Hannah Linstead (Shrewsbury) taking home silver.
In the Artistic Solo Level 5 Female 9-11 years old, Zoe Burke (Concord) placed first.
Second and third place went to a pair of skaters from Golden Blades Figure Skating Club.
Caroline Gordon (East Bridgewater) received a silver medal for her performance and Baylee Peters (Berkley) came in third. As the sun set outside, the skating continued with older girl and adult divisions.
It was a Pilgrim Blades Figure Skating Club "sandwich" in the Artistic Solo Level 8 for 16-17 year olds division.
Representing Pilgrim Blades, Kaitlyn Henry (Scituate) received the gold and Tanya Bibby (Hingham) won bronze. In the middle with the silver medal was Lauren Arnold (Natick) from the Bay State Blades.
The Masters Ice Hockey competition also started today at the Vietnam Vets Memorial Skating Rink in North Adams.
The Over 50 division kicked off with the CT Olympics defeating the Lynnfield Old T's by a score of 6-1.
For the CT Olympics, #6 Joseph Mysbach (Wallingford, CT) had two goals and an assist.
In Over 40 action, the Shamrocks racked up two victories today as they beat the Greenfield Blades 4-1 and the Teddy Bear Pools 6-2.
In the last Over 40 game Hingham beat Reils Rentals 6-1. The Over 50 division closed out the day with a 2-2 tie between Warriors and CDR, and the NY Olde Crabs was victorious over Teddy Bear Pools 4-2.
ISI Figure Skating will continue Saturday, February 3 between 3 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. The Bay State Skating show featuring talents from both ISI and USFS figure skaters will also take place Saturday, February 3 at 7:30 p.m. at Williams College.
