North Adams - Police are investigating an early morning Jan. 4 vandalism spree that left several vehicles with smashed-out windows.
At 2:35 a.m. a caller reported seeing three youths dressed in dark-blue hooded sweatshirts who were armed with pipes and smashing vehicle windows in the Furnace Street area. The caller stated that the trio was making their way east along the street.
Minutes later, a call from a second address reported windows being broken.
Police responded to the area but did not find the culprits, said police Sgt. Robert Baker.
Five vehicles were damaged and a police investigation is underway.
A vandalism incident that likely occurred on Dec. 31 at the Silvio O. Conte Middle School remains under investigation, and a $1,000 reward is offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for painting grafitti on the building.
Speaking earlier today, city school resource Officer Francis Maruco said that no one had been charged in connection with the incident as of midday.
