By Susan Bush
12:00AM / Tuesday, December 26, 2006

Bennington, Vt. - A 24-year-old Bennington, Vt. man is being held at the Marble Valley Correctional Center in lieu of bail after he allegedly stole an unidentified female's Christmas gifts.

State police said that Charles Vadja was charged with a Twitchell Hill Road, Shaftsbury, burglary.

The incident occurred on Dec. 23.

Police said that they were called to a residence at about 3:50 a.m..

Those at the home told police that Vadja had entered the premises and awakened a sleeping female and the two began to argue. A male that was inside the home told police that he instructed Vadja to leave the home, and Vadja did leave, according to police.

However, very soon after Vadja left the residence, the occupants discovered that holidays gifts and a telephone belonging to the female had been removed from the home.

State police contacted Bennington Police Sgt. Camillo Grande and learned that Vadja was suspected for alleged involvement with another burglary that occurred in Bennington. Bennington police and state police traveled to Vadja's residence and placed him under arrest.

The stolen gifts were found inside a vehicle that had been reported as stolen, police said.

Vadja faces an arraignment the Bennington County District Court.
