"Art History and It's Publishers" April 1 At The Clark

Williamstown - The Research and Academic Programs of the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute presents "Art History and its Publishers," a Clark Conversation, on Saturday, April 1 at 5:30 pm in the Clark café.

Admission is free, however, space is limited. Refreshments will be served.

During the two days leading up to this conversation, a group of art history publishers will gather at the Clark for discussions concerning what is at stake in publishing in art history including the challenges facing those selecting manuscripts and creating books and catalogues, how the publishing industry shapes the field, and what the future holds.

Among the participants in this colloquium will be editors and directors of major university, museum and other publishing houses that shape the history of art, including Susan Bielstein of the University of Chicago Press, Stephanie Fay of the University of California Press, and Douglas Armato of the University of Minnesota Press.

This colloquium is part of a series held at the Clark brings together key personnel to discuss contemporary issues of art history, and has been generously sponsored by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon foundation. During the conversation on April 1, participants in the colloquium will gather for an informal concluding discussion in the Clark café, to which the public is invited.

The Clark's Research and Academic Programs include an international fellowship program and regular conferences, symposia, and colloquia, drawing together arts leadership from around the world. The Clark encompasses one of the most comprehensive art history libraries in the world and, together with Williams College, jointly sponsors one of the nation's leading master's programs in art history.

The Clark is located at 225 South Street in Williamstown, Massachusetts. The galleries are open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm (daily in July and August).

Admission is free November through May. Admission June 1 through October 31 is $10 for adults, free for children 18 and younger, members, and students with valid ID. For more information, call 413-458-2303 or visit www.clarkart.edu.
