Pittsfield’s Victorian Holiday

Pittsfield - A Victorian Holiday comes alive in the Park Square Historic District, Pittsfield, on Friday, December 2, with horse drawn wagon rides, wassail, caroling, a tree lighting and, of course, Santa.

The tree lighting will occur at 7 p.m. at Park Square. Prior to the lighting ceremony, proprietors of the Historic District will participate in a holiday open house including tours of their beautiful buildings, music, food and festive decorations.

Most events are free and open to the public unless
otherwise noted. The schedule and list of participants follows:

5-6:30 p.m.: Berkshire Athenaeum will host readings of classic holiday short stories for children.

5-6:30 p.m.: Victorian Open House - Women's Club, 42 Wendell Ave., tours, hot chocolate, cookies, and music by Berkshire Music School ensembles.

5-6:30 p.m.: Old English Wassail - Thaddeus Clapp House, 74 Wendell Ave., tours, biscuits, wassail, and music by Berkshire Music School ensembles.

5-7:00 p.m.: Festival of Trees, Berkshire Museum, South Street. $1 off Festival of Trees admission. Free admission for first-floor performances and activities including crafts, cider, donuts and carolers.

5-7:00 p.m.: Horse Drawn Wagon rides circling Wendell Avenue. Boarding at Elder Services. Free.

7:00 p.m.: Santa arrives at Park Square for the 30' tree lighting along with the Mayor of Pittsfield. Holiday music by members of the Eagle and Taconic High School bands, plus free hot chocolate and toys for kids. Presented by the Pittsfield Parks Department.

7:30 p.m.: Free showing of the movie "The Polar Express" following the tree lighting at the First Church of Christ on Park Square. Popcorn and hot chocolate. Please bring a blanket or a chair. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
